About Hack the Gap: Learn and Earn Scholarship

The Learn and Earn scholarship offers an opportunity to grow your tech skills through covering the costs of your tech training program and apply those skills during a guaranteed internship opportunity. Participants will receive stipends during the program.

This scholarship is for young adults, ages 18-30 to develop new and existing technical skills through real projects and get access to career development opportunities.

The Scholarship Model:

This scholarship opportunity is focused on providing young adults with the required skills, certifications and credentials to enter or continue on a pathway into tech. We then pair our scholarship recipients with paid projects, skills coaching, and professional mentorship while providing clients with amazing products.

Scholarship Overview: 

The scholarship consists of two parts:

  • The first part is the paid tech training, which interested applicants can apply to here. The scholarship covers the cost of the program, and offers a stipend for participation in the program. The training programs are 3 to 4 months, during which participants will acquire the skills necessary to start their careers in tech (exact timing depends on each program).

  • The second part of the scholarship is a paid hybrid work experience. Participants will work about 15 to 20 hours a week. Scholarship recipients will dedicate this time to personal and professional development resources.

Benefits

  • Recipients will be awarded a stipend for the duration of the program, and the costs of the program will be covered by the scholarship

  • Recipients will be able to participate in a 3 month paid work experience

  • Assistance in developing your digital professional presence (LinkedIn, portfolio website etc)

  • A portfolio to highlight the work done during the program

Eligibility for the Scholarship

  • Ramsey County residents and currently living in Ramsey County

  • 18 to 30 years old at the start of their chosen training program

  • Un- or under-employed** and available to work

  • Passionate about technology and pursuing a career in tech

**Underemployed refers to individuals who are working in jobs that do not fully utilize their education or experience. It can also describe situations where people are working part-time when they desire full-time employment or are in temporary or low-paying positions despite having qualifications for higher-level roles. Underemployment highlights a mismatch between a worker's abilities and the demands or opportunities of their current job.
