Hi Volunteers & Mentors!

We hope this note finds you well and excited for the upcoming Hack the Gap Hackathon this weekend, February 8th-9th. We're thrilled to have you join us and contribute your skills to this exciting event! To ensure your experience at the hackathon goes smoothly, below I’ve listed the details and logistics of the weekend.

YOUR ROLE

As a volunteer, your role is to make sure everything goes smoothly for the hackathon participants, from check-in to breakfast, to showing where the bathrooms are, to just being a friendly face. We will have a list of jobs that will need to be taken care of throughout each day and will assign them when volunteers arrive.

WHAT TO BRING

We suggest you bring a device (phone, ipad, or laptop), especially if you are volunteering first thing in the morning, you will be helping at registration. If you can’t bring one, no worries! We have lots of tasks that don’t require one.

FOOD

Should your shift overlap with a meal or snack break, please feel free to grab a snack!

BE ON TIME

Please. Especially if you are a morning volunteer, we need you bright-eyed and bushy-tailed first thing in the morning to welcome the hackathon participants.

It’s Hackathon Season!

A hackathon is a rapid innovation process aimed at developing projects, prototypes and blueprints to address a particular challenge. The Hack the Gap Hackathon is an experience to empower intergenerational teams to generate innovation.

This is a means to connect with other community members to participate in creative problem solving around a systemic and institutional issue impacting our society.
